About Us
Hello from Skip and daughters,
Years ago, at the age of 12, my family moved to Palm Beach Florida during my seventh grade year. It was here where I saw people so quickly put things out to the street that were still usable. Many of these items that I was interested in were bicycles. I brought them home, repaired, and sold them.
During my ninth grade year, we move back to Tuscaloosa and we lived on a farm. Naturally I gravitated towards having a truck. If I passed by a dumpster that someone put furniture out on the ground and I liked it, I brought it home and reworked it. Using these funds, I was able to open my photography studio at the age of 24. Even during my travels for photography, I would bring things back from places such as: India, Paris, Egypt, the Virgin Islands, Cuba, and many other places.
I have three beautiful daughters and not wanting to raise them with devices in their hands, I chose to teach and expose them to anything beautiful and creative. I chose to slow down my time at the studio to focus on them.
We love the process of taking something that is discarded, unwanted, seen as unusable, and finding a new life for it. We call this The Reclaimed Life. When we do our yearly show in Birmingham it's so exciting to reconnect with our customers from the past. We enjoy receiving their feedback and blessings from their purchases of our new items every year. The photos at the top of this page reflect the diversity, exposure, and the opportunities that we have experienced. Thank you and for your support as we continue to move in this direction!
